February Update

Well, I am way behind again on updates due mostly to family sickness and computer problems, but here is a condensed version of the month between all the kids being sick at least 2 times each and me getting sick as well - Phil escaped the nasty germs.

911 CALL

Well we didn't actually call 911 b/c we felt kind of silly but, our carbon monoxide detector went off so we needed to get it checked out. The kids thought it was pretty cool to have a fire engine at our house with the lights flashing and Owen of course had 501 questions about everything. The fire dept detected something as well so we waited about 45 min for the gas company to show up and then they finally gave us the all clear to go back inside. The gas company couldn't find any detection at all and thought it was probably some kind of fluke but we had the furnace check out a couple of days later just in case, and they said it was fine too but our humidifier wasn't working properly so at least we got something fixed out of the deal.

OWEN & MALIA ASK JESUS INTO THEIR HEARTS

On Feb 18, Malia & I were home sick from small group and we were reading Bible stories before bed. She was asking several questions about living in heaven forever. Later when Phil was doing more bedtime stories with her & Owen, they talked some more and she said she wanted to pray and ask Jesus into her heart. Owen has told us in the past that he had prayed to do the same in his bed one night but we asked him if he wanted us to pray with him as well and he did. It is wonderful to see the sincerity of a child and we are thankful for their tender hearts and pray for God to lead and direct in their lives.

THE BUG

Well, officially no one was checked but me, but I did have Influenza A, so I am sure that is what the kids had as well (at least one time around) but it definitely knocked me down for a while. Thankfully the day I felt the worst, Meredith was sick as well, so we both just layed in bed all day. Owen & Malia had their dream day b/c I told them to play computer games, watch movies, etc. etc. just as long as they didn't fight. About the only time I drug myself out of bed was when Owen came in around 1 and told me he was getting pretty hungry for lunch:-) The next 3 days after that, Phil was home and took care of everything so I could just take it easy.

DEAD SEA SCROLLS

There is an exhibit at Union Station of the Dead Sea Scrolls for the next couple of months and some friends invited us to go out with them and make an evening of it. It was very interesting to hear all the background and history. One of those things you'll probably only get to do once in your life.
