Our first full day in Colorado we headed out to see the Sand Dunes. There was about 4 inches of water running along the bottom part of the dunes so it was just like a beach - the kids loved it! Well, most of them - Meredith didn't want to even take off her tennis shoes and she pretty much parked herself by the cold boxes and didn't move far from there. There was hardly any shade so Brooklyn wasn't too happy either. I took her back to the van and fed her and then my mom volunteered to stay with her. Little did she know that she would be in the van with it running for about 2 hrs :) as she watched Brooklyn + other little ones that came back after getting cleaned up. Phil, Owen, Malia & I headed up for a climb with a bunch of the other family. Once we climbed a little higher it was windy at times so the blowing sand stung a bit. Owen & Malia surprised us and trudged up quite a ways - farther than Mommy did - that's for sure! Once we were all back down and partially cleaned up we headed back to La Veta & Charlies grocery store to get some ice cream from the soda fountain - Mmmm!
